Most sign language interpreting jobs in Japan are one-time jobs.

They often work for two to four hours at a time.

In the case of interpreting for lectures and events, two or three interpreters work in shifts.

In most cases, the hourly rate is 2,000 to 3,000 yen.

Although the hourly rate is high, the working hours are short and there are very few full-time jobs available.

For this reason, there are very few people in Japan who make a living only as sign language interpreters.
